InStyler Rotating Iron Review and Giveaway

December 1, 2014 by Ronda

Disclaimer: This post was created in partnership with Instyler and VocalPoint. All opinions are my own. #VocalPoint #RSVPInStyler

I received three InStyler tools and I was excited to try them, because I saw them on TV and wondered if they actually worked for my hair type. My hair is naturally curly, but I don't have silky curls, I have coarse curls, so it's usually a battle trying to straighten my hair bone straight without using a hair relaxer. I won't say "never again", but after officially going natural in early 2013 I have no intention of ruining my progress with more chemicals.

Heat gets a bad rap, but as long as I prep my hair properly, I have no problems. Also, since I add clip-in extensions to my hair, I get an opportunity to see how well this product works with my hair and weave.

InStyler Rotating Iron
I'm not one of the people who can use a blow dryer and the hair just sits flat. Even when I blow dry straight, from curls, my hair is straight but seems like a straight afro (see photos below). When I tried the rotating iron on my hair in its natural state, I heard a sizzling sound and my hair smelled as if it was burning. So I had to blow dry my hair first.

Steps:

  • I blow dried it
  • Let it cool
  • Applied heat protection sprays
  • Started using the iron

In this order, the InStyler worked very well. I still had to use a separate brush in some areas to make sure my hair was smooth first, because it tangled a bit on the iron, but other than that my hair was straighter with this iron, than with the flat iron I usually use. What I also preferred about the rotating iron, is that I'm not frying my hair between two hot plates and it shines more. You can see the difference in the photos, right?

GIVEAWAY ENDED

I re-took photos, going from curly to straight to show how well it works. This time, instead of blow drying first, I set it on the 2nd heating level. With this method, I would avoid hearing a crispy sound or smell hair burning. I used the heat protection cream and rotating iron. I'm wearing my hair curly, so I did not want to iron out my whole head, I just wanted to showcase the process. You can definitely see the difference between the first photo and the third.

In addition to the Rotating Iron, I received the TULIP Auto Curler and the Ionic Styler Pro. Since I am pleased with the results of the Rotating Iron, I don't have a need for the Ionic Styler Pro as of yet. Also, I don't have a need for the TULIP Auto Curler. I will be holding on to the Ionic Styler, but I'm in a sharing mood, so I'm hosting a giveaway for one of these fantastic products.
